RSK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Utility Surveyor in our Hemel Hempstead office.
RSK SafeGround, part of the RSK Geosciences business, is looking for the right candidate to join an already thriving team, to lead and deliver utility survey projects whilst developing their career within the successful RSK Group.
There is opportunity to travel with international projects, as well as supporting our clients within the UK in the renewables, property, civil engineering, nuclear, water and transport sectors.
Responsibilities and Desired Experience:
1. Undertaking site work using GPR and EML techniques for on-site service avoidance in preparation for intrusive site investigation works to PAS128:2022 specifications.
2. Undertaking and leading site work using EML and cover lifting techniques for utility mapping works to PAS128 standard, being competent with:
• Cover lifting and utility identification.
• EML techniques for tracing electrical, metallic services and non-metallic pipes and ducts to PAS128.
• Topographical surveying and equipment, both GPS and Total Station work to measure and record utility detection markings for the purposes of drawing production.
• GPR data collection for both on-site analysis and recording for post-processing work as part of drawing deliverables.
3. Responsible for drafting and producing AutoCAD drawings for PAS128 Type D and Type B utility surveys. Producing PAS128 reports to accompany Type B survey drawings.
4. Manage ongoing projects and liaise with site investigation teams for project scheduling.
5. Help deliver training and mentoring for junior members of the team.
The successful applicant will work within our experienced team under the guidance of the Team Leader.
Person Specification:
1. Experienced Senior Utility Surveyor (5+ years’ experience) who has led PAS128 mapping project site work and has been responsible for the deliverables.
2. Ideally with Level 4 Diploma Supervisor or Level 5 Diploma Senior Utilities Mapping Surveyor, or equivalent.
Familiarity with GSSI, IDS Stream C and/or Mala GPR equipment, RD8000 series EML and Leica total station and GPS survey equipment would be useful.
3. Experience with post-processing and interpretation of GPR data.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including working with tablets for the purposes of on-site digital data capture.
5. Strong IT skills including Excel, CAD and some programming would be an advantage.
Must hold a UK driving license.
Salary: £36-£40k dependent on above experience.
Location: Based in the Hemel Hempstead office, expected to be able to work nationwide but predominantly in South-East England.
