About the Role - To undertake the role, the post holder will deal with a range of building control and integrated planning and housing adaptation duties. Responsible for the day-to-day project management of multiple projects, ensuring, as far as practicable, compliance with building regulations and associated standards of construction projects and/or conversion projects.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting and mentoring less experienced technical staff to ensure our standards and service levels in all aspects of RBCA and related activities are achieved
2. Support the introduction/delivery of new products and services as required
3. Assessing applications
4. Attending meetings, training sessions and seminars, as required by the business
5. An advocate for Assent, representing the business in a professional manner
6. Taking responsibility for a portfolio of projects within a geographical area
7. Providing technical support and guidance to clients and less experienced members of the team
8. Effective time management to optimise inspection visits to sites and in relation to plan checking requirements
9. Recording and maintaining accurate inspection records
10. Managing relationships with customers to promote business development
11. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both internal and external, forging meaningful relationships
Qualifications:
1. Keen eye for detail and process orientated
2. Ability to make pragmatic decisions to achieve safe and compliant buildings
3. Able to work with the minimum of supervision/remotely in line with established policies and procedures
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills
5. Commercial awareness
6. Chartered or working towards full corporate membership of Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
7. Hold and maintain appropriate Technical Class 2A-2D Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status
8. Conversant with relevant legislation, technical guidance and knowledge of the impact of The Building Safety Act (2022)
9. Fire safety knowledge
10. Health and Safety knowledge
11. Knowledge of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work
12. Competency framework and code of professional conduct rules
13. Knowledge of customer care and the principles of equal opportunities in providing a Building Control function
14. Track record in ensuring compliance and enforcement with the Building Regulations, gaining experience of different types of buildings and projects
15. Effective self-management of site inspections and reporting
16. Assessing safety and risk, with working experience in a building control environment
17. Develop strong internal working relationships across all areas of the business
18. Relationship management and development across all teams and stakeholders
19. Build and maintain client relationships across a mix of design and construction teams
20. Assessing compliance against regulation & legislation
21. Plan checking across a wide range of project types

25. UK driving licence.
