Job Overview
The Point of Care Testing (POCT) Team within Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services offers Partnered Trusts an on-site, Rapid Respiratory Service that tests for Influenza, RSV, and COVID with a fast turnaround.
The post-holder will oversee services at the six hospital sites within the Berkshire Surrey Pathology network of hospitals including:
1. Frimley Health - (Wexham Park and Frimley Park Hospitals)
2. Royal Surrey County Hospital - Guildford
3. Royal Berkshire Hospital - Reading
4. Ashford and St Peters Hospitals – Chertsey
5. East Surrey Hospital - Reigate
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will be an HCPC-registered, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled Biomedical Scientist, with a background in a pathology discipline relevant to POCT, preferably with POCT and Microbiology experience.
They will lead in the provision of efficient, effective, and reliable Rapid Respiratory services to users within the BSPS network.
This is a fixed-term contract ending 31/03/2025, with the possibility of extension.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Able to independently travel to BSPS Partnered Trust Sites
* HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
* Postgraduate degree or working towards (e.g. MSc) in relevant specialist subject or Fellow of the IBMS
* Comprehensive previous experience (minimum two years) of laboratory environments
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of Access databases, POCcelerator, LIMs, or other POCT middleware
* Evidence of relevant CPD for POCT experience
* Microbiology/Virology Experience
