Job Title: Engineer
Department: Ink Business Unit - Ink Engineering
Reports to: Senior Engineering / Engineering Specialist
Position Summary:
The post holder is required to ensure all Production lines are achieving daily Quality, production outputs and productivity targets. Ensure a quick response to all day-to-day reactive breakdowns, focusing on implementing root cause countermeasures for repetitive breakdowns and improvements in machine output regarding Quality & Productivity.
Main Job Functions:
1. Respond quickly and efficiently to all machinery breakdowns, ensuring logical fault-finding to identify root causes and carry out repairs to a high standard.
2. Work closely with production staff to ensure line productivity performance, reduction in error counts, line cycle time, and quality is within standard.
3. Carry out improvement work and modifications to enhance overall line efficiency.
4. Investigate, propose, and apply continuous process improvements, ensuring all pre and post data is captured to focus on recurring issues to help achieve/reduce quality DPM, customer complaints, and machine Productivity/OEE.
5. Mentor junior members of the team.
Health & Safety:
Ensure the Health, Safety, and welfare of all staff within the department. Carry out relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work prior to work commencing. Report any accidents or near misses and implement countermeasures as required.
Quality:
Ensure adherence to relevant standards and procedures, assisting production teams with ongoing quality issues and proposing engineering solutions to reduce DAS levels.
Cost:
Manage parts stock in line with departmental needs and track all departmental spending on a controlled document.
Delivery:
Focus on achieving plans and ensuring optimum line productivity. Communicate any delays and propose solutions to line stoppages.
Productivity:
Maintain and continually improve staff work levels to ensure efficiency and achievement of preset objectives.
Morale:
Ensure good two-way communication between all department members and help train Operators and junior mentors.
Environmental:
Carry out activities in line with company policies to reduce waste and ensure correct waste segregation.
Kaizen:
Investigate, propose, and apply continuous improvements to existing machines and support internal companywide activities.
General Responsibilities:
Lead by example, comply with IT security policy, maintain 5S levels, adhere to Epson's Environmental and quality policies, and undertake other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Essential:
HNC or NVQ4 in an engineering function, GCSE math's and English.
Desirable:
Mechanical and/or Electrical qualifications, supervisory experience.
Experience:
Essential:
Previous experience in a similar role.
Desirable:
Working in a similar environment with similar equipment (FMGC), basic hand tool and machinery skills, basic electrical fault finding, knowledge of vacuum systems.
