Job Description
The role
As we continue to grow in size, scale and complexity, we are looking for an experienced Manager to join our Finance function. Reporting to the Head of Finance, Product Control, this newly created role will be responsible for setting up and leading our Product Control team to ensure our trading activities are accounted for accurately and in a timely manner.
The successful applicant will be joining at an exciting time as we invest in strengthening our Accounting and Control capabilities and improve the quality and robustness of balance sheet reporting, particularly standardisation and automation of our accounting and reconciliation processes.
How you'll make an impact:
1. Build, develop, implement, and document end to end Accounting and reconciliation processes for our trading activity ensuring effective operation and control.
2. Implement and own the control framework to ensure accuracy of financial records and statements from trading activity.
3. Recruit, train and develop a team of highly skilled Accountants and support their ongoing development to fulfill their potential within their roles.
4. Review and challenge the control outputs from the team with a focus on identifying discrepancies, find appropriate solutions and initiate corrective actions.
5. You will apply your strong accounting knowledge and leadership to provide guidance to your team and ensure balances are properly accounted for in line with IFRS requirements.
6. Effectively partner with broader Finance, Treasury, and Engineering teams in the resolution and implementation of end to end solutions.
7. Own the adoption and implementation of accounting and controls on any new product development initiatives.
8. You will actively work on improving data integrity and quality, automation, strengthening of controls, operational and reporting efficiency.
9. Implement tactical as well as strategic solutions to improve the firm's ability to be able to place reliance on its financial records from trading activity.
10. As the SME, you will ensure our processes and controls are robust and will meet audit requirements and ensure effective and timely delivery of the audit evidence/support during year-end audits.
11. Provide clarity and assurance to key stakeholders on the status of the team’s outputs, including timely escalation of issues and breaks.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
* Successful candidates will bring experience of leading and delivering financial accounting and operational processes at scale in complex, regulatory environments, ideally within traditional finance, banking or payments/fintech.
* Professional finance qualification such as the ACA or equivalent. You will also hold practical knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
* 8+ years of financial accounting, reconciliations and controls experience ideally within a listed environment or large complex company.
* Strong understanding of double-entry and complex accounting concepts.
* Strong people leader with a track record of leading a sizable team with varied skill set/experience.
* Proven ability to find end-to-end solutions to issues and work cross-functionally and with remote teams - including Finance, Product, Engineering, Data.
* Ability to lead projects of high complexity to automate manual tasks with the team or department.
* Extremely strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
* Strong data analytics skills and experience handling large volumes of data.
* Systems knowledge, particularly Workday would be highly desirable.
* Knowledge of the payments industry and/or Fintech would be beneficial.
Additional Information
Hybrid Working Model:
All of our offices globally are onsite 3 times per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). We’ve worked towards enabling teams to work collaboratively in the same space, while also being able to partner with colleagues globally.
