Maternity Care Assistant - Antenatal Diabetes Team
The post holder will provide support to the Antenatal Diabetes team, delivering care to pregnant women in collaboration with Midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of care.
The successful applicant will carry out assigned tasks including organizing and completing screening clinics for diabetes with pregnant women, following up results, and ensuring contact with women who screen positive.
Main Duties of the Job
Main tasks will include undertaking vital sign observations, venepuncture, data entry onto electronic patient records (EPR), chaperoning doctors, and maintaining clean and well-stocked clinical areas at all times.
Hours will be on weekdays, requiring two early starts at 07:00. Clinics are located in Bracknell, Newbury, and Reading, so a full driving license and access to a car are necessary. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
Job Responsibilities
The post holder will work with pregnant women and their families, collaborating with Midwives and the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care. Responsibilities include direct clinical care to mothers and their babies, operating screening tests for women identified at risk of diabetes, following up results, and ensuring follow-up care is planned with the midwives and wider team.
Person Specification
* Good standard of general education in English and Maths (GCSE A-C, Level 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent)
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car
* Care Certificate
* Band 3 competency
Essential / Desirable
* Currently Band 2 or 3 care assistant with RBFT
* Competent in venepuncture
Skills
* Good communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
* Understanding of the importance of placing women and families at the center of care
* Previous use of Electronic Patient Records

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum, pro rata for part-time candidates.
