Humber's Autism Mental Health Support Team aims to enhance support for autistic adults and their families/carers during mental health crises. We are recruiting two full time band 4 associate practitioners to this specialist team. The roles will involve working closely with mental health teams and autistic service users within the unplanned care sector to support their mental health recovery journey. The practitioners will complete observations, gather information from the service user and coach mental health staff on ways of working with individuals. The successful post holders will receive regular supervision and training to support them to carry out their roles successfully. Main duties of the job o To work under the direction of the B6 Specialist practitioner to support, train and coach mental health teams in their work with autistic service users. o To work under the direction of the B6 Specialist practitioner to deliver observations, gather information and model ways of working with the autistic service user. o To demonstrate an understanding in autism and the diagnostic criteria to consider appropriate ways of working with patients and to advise colleagues on reasonable adjustments. o To be able to communicate effectively and attend meetings where appropriate, under the direction of the B6 practitioner, with mental health teams within unplanned care. o To support others in the team to evaluate the service's effectiveness and complete audits when required. o To document all work completed using the trust's electronic record system in line with documentation legislation. o To attend relevant training to support in carrying out the role effectively. o A job plan will provide further detail on the plans to develop specific skills and provide further detail on specific responsibilities.
