This role comes to market from an established global business that manufactures on a high variety, low-medium volume basis for the international market. With a strong history in British manufacturing, they have a large design and manufacturing presence here in the UK and are continuing to benefit from ongoing investment and growth. Joining them as Production Manager you will lead and supervise production operations and personnel to ensure they achieve production, quality and H&S targets. This includes responsibility for circa 150 personnel through 6-7 direct reports. Passionate about people you will maintain high levels of morale in your team as you best utilise and develop their skills. Core responsibilities will include: Production Management – create production plans, review performance, capture data, support problem solving, input recovery plans where required, ensure optimum activity and meet cost, quality and delivery targets. Quality and Continuous Improvement – attend quality improvement meetings, comply with ISO90001 requirements, operate a 6s system, monitor processes to reduce cost/waste and improve productivity/quality and promote quality ownership within your team Health, Safety and Environment – weekly H&S inspections, promote H&S awareness, take part in risk assessments and accident investigations when required, comply with ISO(phone number removed) requirements Training and Development – seek opportunities to improve your own knowledge and performance. Create development plans for your team, support their development and ensure the teams skills meet current and future requirements Resource Management – allocation of manpower, fair work/task allocation, move labour to remove bottlenecks, maintain job flexibility within the facility. Sound Interesting? To apply for this role, you will need to demonstrate previous plant, production or operations management experience gained within a similar manufacturing environment. This should include being familiar with fabrication and assembly lines and prior management of production operations. Prior experience in sectors such as automotive, yellow goods, agricultural machinery, plant equipment or large structural fabrications will be of benefit. A degree or HNC/HND plus experience in engineering, manufacturing or a related subject is also preferred as is IOSH training and certification. A management related accreditation such as ILM level 5 or chartered manager status would be beneficial but is not essential. In return they offer a competitive 4-day week with Friday morning worked 1 in every 4 weeks.
