We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior NDE Engineer - Advanced UT to be involved in a game changing role as we strive to make the nuclear industry more diverse.
The ‘Senior NDE Engineer – Advanced UT’ will be primarily responsible for leading the development and implementation of new ultrasonic testing (UT) methods of non-destructive examination (NDE) to ensure they deliver full capability to meet all product and business requirements across the manufacture of nuclear pressure vessel and plant module products.
They will deliver UT methods involved in the testing of high integrity components through all stages of life, including delivery of methods that are compliant with national and international standards within the highly regulated nuclear industry. This person will lead the NDE engineering activities to deliver both Advanced UT procedure qualifications and inspector qualifications. They will identify and pursue new process development and evaluation of new equipment and equipment upgrades.
Key selection criteria:
1. Responsibility for the design, development and application of UT inspection techniques within the power plant manufacture, commissioning and EMIT.
2. Proven ability to define, plan, monitor and control projects, programmes and work packages, ensuring the work is delivered to cost, quality and schedule.
3. Responsibility for the design, development, justification, and application of Code based and beyond code high integrity inspection UT techniques, setting the strategy for RR SMR, delivering the most appropriate solutions for the SMR owned MEP factory, the nuclear build Site Factory, and the supply chain.
4. Demonstrated experience and/or working knowledge in meeting nuclear regulations and associated fabrication and inspection codes (e.g. ASME) or alternatives (e.g. RCC-M).
5. Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment. Within a growing business environment, flexibility to work across multiple business units will be essential.
Qualification requirements:
1. Professional qualifications in NDT are essential (e.g. ISO9712 (e.g. PCN, CSWIP, or equivalent schemes), with a minimum qualification in the following NDE methods/techniques: ISO9712 Level 3 in Ultrasonic Testing, ISO9712 Level 3 (or L2 with considerable experience) in Advanced UT (e.g. PAUT, TOFD).
2. Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
3. Recognised Professional Engineering registration (e.g. ECUK IEng or CEng) or demonstrate that they are currently working at that level.
