The team works in conjunction with UCL HEDS (Arena), the Academic Communication Centre, Student Support and Wellbeing Services, and faculties and departments, developing best practice and evidence-based approaches. The Student Success Office leads on developing institution-wide approaches and change. We take an evidence-led approach with a strong focus on evaluation and research. About the role The Senior Student Success Officer will play a key role in ensuring delivery of our approaches to help close awarding gaps across UCL. They will work closely with faculty and departmental staff members to create interventions that can improve the experience of underrepresented student groups, and to ultimately close awarding gaps. Key responsibilities of the postholder will include: developing and managing policies, projects and resources to support the retention and attainment of key target groups; synthesizing national and local policy and data to identify key institutional barriers to retention and success for target groups; promoting programmes and resources to stakeholders, including UCL students, faculties and departments; and, acting as a point of contact for key groups to signpost to relevant UCL support systems. You must be familiar with, and have an understanding of, issues and interventions affecting student outcomes and retention at HE level, together with experience of developing and delivering new initiatives, particularly programmes and events. You will have good project management skills, clear and effective communication skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of people with tact and diplomacy.
