We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our expanding pharmacy team. Being one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country, the team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises of approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites.
We have opportunities to cover a multitude of areas including specialist areas such as Surgery, Critical care, Neuro and respiratory, among other areas. Full training will be provided.
Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians qualifying this summer are welcome to apply for this post. GPHC Registration will required to start in the post following all other recruitment checks.
Main duties of the job
Ordering cost-effective and appropriate supplies of medicinal products.
Assessing the suitability for re-use of patients' own medication.
Medicines Reconciliation.
Managing medicines at discharge.
Working within a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Supporting the dispensary by undertaking dispensing and accredited checking of prescriptions.
Stock control and cost saving exercises.
Patient counselling.

Please note this post is provisionally at AFC band 4, progressing to a permanent band 5 position upon successful completion of competencies and Accredited Checking Technician qualification. Should you already meet the band 5 criteria you will be appointed to this on a permanent contract. If you are unsuccessful and do not complete your competencies your fixed term position will come to an end.
A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
1. BTEC in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent qualification/experience (band 4 and 5)
2. NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent qualification/experience (band 4 and 5)
3. GPHC registered Pharmacy Technician (band 4 and 5)
4. Willing to undertake accredited checking qualification (band 4)
5. Whilst training at band 4 must participate in appropriate competencies and training (Band 4)
6. Evidence of continuous professional development (band 4 and 5)
7. Microsoft Office Packages - evidence of short courses or relevant experience (band 4 and 5)
8. Accredited Checking qualification (Band 5)
9. Must be willing to undertake accredited checking qualification (band 4)
Experience

10. Successful completion of a competency training package including: Labelling and dispensing of prescriptions (band 4 and 5)
11. Experience of using pharmacy based computer systems (band 4 and 5)
