How you'll make a difference
Working within a team of solicitors and legal assistants in the legal services division, you will use your experience in adult social care law and education law, to provide professional support and assistance to the Adult Social Care Legal team, the education department and schools, with the support of our highly experienced solicitors.
What you will be doing
* You will support a team of solicitors who deal with adult social care law and education law and will be the primary point of contact within the legal department on Deprivation of Liberty enquiries.
* It will be your responsibility to advise on Adult Care requests, to include Mental Capacity, Displacing Nearest Relatives, Ordinary Residence, Charging & Deprivation of assets.
* Daily you will manage the process to progress cases in the Court of Protection for the authorisation of Deprivation of Liberty applications.
* As part of the role, you will conduct Legal Research.
* Ongoing personal development is key and you will be developing your existing legal skills and competencies and taking responsibility for your learning, whilst also ensuring that tasks are completed correctly and to time.
What we need from you
* It is essential that you have a law degree at level 6 CILEx diploma in law and practice or appropriate post graduate legal qualification.
* We require you to have experience of working as a paralegal, ideally in a local authority setting, with particular emphasis on adult social care work, mental capacity issues and education law.
* You must have knowledge and experience of adult social care law and court processes.
* It is key that you are able to work as part of a team under pressure within tight timescales and have the ability to build and maintain positive working arrangements with colleagues, clients and all other relevant parties.

* This is a hybrid role meaning that you can work remotely or in our offices.
