You will be based in local SEN schools for children with designated Education Heath Care Plan (EHCP), which details their specific needs in terms of care and support they will have access to.
You will gain a breadth of experience with children of varying ages and abilities. The schools use a wide range of teaching strategies and interventions to encourage positive outcomes and student development. You will work within small classes individually and in groups, and encourage pupils' learning and progression as well as improve their social and emotional development.

Trainee SEN Teacher - Learning Support Assistant/ SEN Teaching Assistant
Salary: £22,100-£26,000 FTE
5 hours per week - Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm
Immediate or January 2025 start
Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Contract: day-to-day, short-term, long-term, and permanent roles availableMain Responsibilities:
Provide teaching and support to our pupils, following individualised curriculums
Support the delivery of lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills
Support pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
Provide behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
Provide personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
Monitor pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for each child's needs
Assist with break time duties including playground support and snack time Application Requirements:
Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent
Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations
