Permanent & fixed term contract/secondment opportunity until 25th September 2025 available
An experienced individual is required to assist in the day to day management of the Cardiac Cath Labs. Main roles include co-ordination of the cath labs, recovery space and day case area as well as providing support to staff and maintaining the areas high standards.
The Cath Labs consists of 5 labs, coupled with an 8 bedded recovery area, providing both elective and emergency services to our patients undergoing procedures. There is also a dedicated elective unit based on level 2.
The area undertakes Angioplasty, Complex Device insertion and is rapidly expanding its provision of Electrophysiology services. It has recently taken ownership of completing elective cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms due to implications of the recent pandemic.
Regular general anesthetic lists are also performed in house.
This is an exciting time for the department with the development of services, and several innovative new roles in the area.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills and experience in Cath Labs to be able to maintain safety and high standards within this busy, expanding area. Being able to support and motivate new and existing staff is essential in order to develop them in the area and assess ongoing competence.
This is an excellent opportunity to further your clinical and managerial skills.
As post holder, your duties will include:
1. Co-ordinating the day to day running of the service
2. Providing leadership and guidance in delivering a clinically effective service in adherence to national and trust policy
3. Leading on initiatives to effect improvements in the area
4. Taking ownership of a staffing group, completing appraisals and monitoring development
5. Providing support to new and existing staff
6. Contributing to creating and maintaining local policies in area

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
Experience
* Significant experience at Band 5 level, of which some is to be in a position relevant to the specialty
* Experience of managing and leading a clinical area
Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Competency in advanced clinical skills including enhanced practice
