About The Role
As a Service Engineer, you will work from a home office and cover the UK / Ireland. Responsibilities include:
1. Occasional trips to support the European service team when needed. (1 trip per quarter).
2. Typically attend 2-3 customer sites per week, with all travel conducted Mon-Fri.
3. Completing new equipment installations, commissioning, and user training.
4. Visiting major industry and academia clients (universities).
5. Liaising with customers directly to schedule service visits.
6. Decommissioning equipment for site relocations.
7. Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding and problem resolution.
8. Working on equipment including both hardware and software ranging from £100K to £800K in value.
9. Completing service report visits.
10. Handling service tickets and using TeamViewer for remote access.
11. Organising for equipment to be sent to the service centre if not resolved on-site.
About You
The successful candidate will possess at least 2-3 years of service engineering experience, gained working on complex equipment, which could include Analytical Instruments, Optical Microscopes, Laser Deposition, Photonics, Sample Preparation, Electron Microscopes, Spectrometers, Motion Control Technology, X-Ray CT Systems, MRI Scanners, Particle Accelerators, or similar.
A degree level education or above is beneficial but not essential. A logical and methodical approach to fault finding is essential, along with a willingness to spend up to 40% of your time away from home. A UK driving license is essential, as is the right to work in the UK. My client doesn’t offer sponsorship.
