Based at our Waukesha Bearings manufacturing plant in Glasgow as the site HSE Advisor, you will be responsible for cultivating a productive, healthy and an incident free workplace. You will be further establishing and promoting Health and Safety practices and collaborating with site management and employees to ensure work is performed in accordance with HS&E policies and procedures and the site operations are compliant with regulatory Health, Safety and Environmental Laws and industry standards.
The HSE Advisor will be visible, provide expert advice, coaching and support to all employees on HSE legislation and requirements. You will provide information, instruction, training and support on improvement activities, supporting Corporate HSE strategy and objectives. You will also support the development and coordination of training programs in line with our Zero Harm at Home and at Work mission; recognize People, Prevention, Protection, and Process (4Ps) are the cornerstone of DPC’s commitment to our employees and stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
* NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
* 3+ years of experience in a HSE advisor role within a product manufacturing site environment, ideally mechanical or precision engineering
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Experience of influencing in a matrix-style organisational structure
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365
* In-depth knowledge of HSE system capabilities
* In-depth knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
* Awareness of Safety and Environmental standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
* Proven experience in leading, motivating and influencing others
* Self-motivated and driven with strong initiative for change
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Reporting to the Global HSE Director and Glasgow Plant Manager, being responsible for ensuring HSE compliance across the site
* Plan, implement, and oversee programs to eliminate or reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, regulatory risk and environmental impact
* Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors. Walk the manufacturing floor at sites on a regular basis to establish HSE conscious culture and provide support
* Identify, drive, present and lead HSE opportunities for improvement
* Develop, lead and coordinate internal and external health, safety and environmental training
* Lead risk and environmental activities, ensuring maintenance of risk registers
* Support Risk Assessment/Environmental Aspect Teams in completion or review of assessments
* Chair and coordinate monthly HSE Committee meetings and HSE Management Reviews at core Glasgow site
* Lead and coordinate incident investigations and root cause analysis and reporting of such, inclusive of supporting the UK sites with legal/insurance claims against the business
* Collaborate with HR on employee-occupational health and safety related concerns
* General day-to-day HSE administrative activities; such as Zero Harm at Home behavioural based safety monitoring, reporting and support to site management and employees
* Liaise with the facilities and maintenance management to ensure all safety critical equipment
* Represents the organisation in community or industry safety groups and programs, i.e. Scottish Engineering, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and/or other
* Proactive monitoring and reporting of site conditions and standards inspections, audits and Zero Harm at Home Behavioural Based Safety system (or DOVER equivalent) tools
* Monitor, report on and present monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
