Health and Safety Manager

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (Car, Life & Medical benefits)

An established firm in the construction sector requires an experienced Health and Safety Manager / SHEQ Manager in Staffordshire. Your primary responsibility in this senior role is to ensure the company meets its legal responsibilities regarding Health, Safety, and the Environment.
Experience Required
1. An accomplished Health and Safety Manager with a minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in similar roles as senior safety lead, multi-site safety lead, trainer, strategy developer, and team coach.
2. Excellent Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality management background within the construction sector.
3. Knowledge of construction operations, materials, and full project methodology life cycle experience including pre-development, project delivery, and maintenance.
4. Experience working with senior managers and successfully managing and motivating a team.
5. Knowledge of CDM, fire, and asbestos regulations.
6. Experience with CITB, CSCS, Considerate Constructor, and SSIP schemes.
7. Experience writing, reviewing, and implementing on-site procedures.
8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with senior managers and report writing.
9. Evidence of continued professional and personal development.
Skills and Ability
1. A chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).
2. Environmental certification / IEAMA membership.
3. Excellent written and interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge constructively.
4. Extensive knowledge of effective health and safety management strategies and best practices.
5. Detailed knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application in a construction environment.
6. Fully conversant with UK construction health, safety, and environmental standards, ISO14001, ISO9001, and ISO 45001.
7. Comfortable dealing with clients, architects, and sub-contractors.
8. Coaching and mentoring skills to develop and support both managerial and operational staff.
9. Familiar with sustainability aspects and how to incorporate these into working practices and the supply chain.
The role will suit individuals currently working as SHE Manager – Construction, Health and Safety Manager, SHEQ Manager, and living within a commutable distance of Lichfield, Burton Upon Trent, Rugeley, Cannock, Walsall, Birmingham, or willing to relocate.
