JR263: Design Engineer
Location: London, Paddington
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 Per Annum + £5,750 Car Allowance
Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Design Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage the 3rd party technical approvals process, assigning actions and following up on responses.
* Manage and communicate all 3rd party technical queries, comments, and information required from interface meetings and keep records.
* Raise technical queries and requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team.
* Support the Design Manager to ensure timely delivery of all design deliverables as per design programmes.
* Manage and update the 3rd party design deliverable schedule.
* Review Designers' monthly reports and produce monthly reports on design cost, progress, and any other design-specific elements.
* Review all 3rd party design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard, challenging and resolving issues when necessary, including reviewing all drawings in line with the client’s scope/requirements.
* Attend interface meetings with external parties and assign/follow up on actions related to the design.
* Arrange internal design interface meetings with the construction department.
* Ensure compliance with design management processes required by the contract.
* Collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors.
* Manage provision of documents, drawings, and output from the 3rd party process to clients, 3rd parties, consultants/designers, and the project team – document control.
* Assist with managing the survey & monitoring requirements for the project, including reporting.
* Assist with land access and stakeholder engagement teams.
* Liaise with the Designer or representative as required under the contract.
* Promote the company to all clients, designers, and other external organizations.
* Maintain contacts with consultants, clients, and other bodies as appropriate to represent the company, demonstrating the ability to provide best value.
* Assist with the recruitment of engineers at all levels for their sector, including interviewing and identifying potential recruits from competitor companies.
* Assist with the training and development of engineers in the sector at all levels, including the attainment of professional qualifications.
* Build the profile of the company in schools, universities, and other external organizations.
* Any other duties consistent with your status and seniority, as necessary to meet the needs of the business of the company.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs, and the ability to coach others.
* Substantial construction and design experience, including an appreciation of tunneling and geotechnics.
* Understanding of the Principal Designer duties.
* Knowledge of digital engineering practices in design and construction.
