East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust have an
exciting project surrounding junior doctor recruitment. We are
looking to recruit a range of grades into a range of specialities
across the trust. Successful applicants will have the
opportunity to work in the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother
Hospital, Margate, The Kent and Canterbury Hospital and
William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, which are the main sites in
an innovative and dynamic Foundation Trust.

GPs and other hospitals, to ensure continuous care for each patient
▪ Undertake non-emergency work during premium time as required
▪ Respond to patient complaints in line with our complaints policy
▪ Help us keep services running smoothly by giving eight weeks’ notice of annual and study leave

The clinical experience will be across a variety of specialities and care groups. This may include an area
within medicine, such as Geriatric Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Rheumatology, Renal, Haematology or
Acute Medicine which all provide stimulating and diverse educational opportunities. Other areas are also
available, such as specialties within the care groups of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Surgery and
Anaesthetics, Urology and Emergency Medicine.
The appointee will be expected to cover for absence of colleagues (including on call cover) at short notice,
e.g. sickness. Cover outside the Rota requiring extra hours of work will be paid as additional work at
nationally agreed rates and will be coordinated to be compliant with the relevant legislation.
It is expected that the post holder will play an active part in the training of junior medical staff. They will also
be expected to supervise, educate and assist medical students.
The post holder should take an active part in clinical audit, journal club and departmental teaching sessions.
Regular appraisals will occur and the post holder will be expected to take part in CPD.
A weekly timetable ensures a mix of duties to develop your experience and further your knowledge. You will
be required to keep accurate notes that are dated, legible and signed, undertake VT Assessment and EDN as
required. You will also be responsible for care and day-to-day clinical management under the direction of the
relevant Consultant.
