The Group Financial Controller will hands-on, supporting the Finance Director in driving financial performance through value-added insight in management reporting and analysis. The Group Financial Controller will provide robust financial reporting for a complex and multi-faceted group and will assist operating businesses with the resolution of specific financial issues, providing clear and pragmatic challenge where appropriate. As Group Financial Controller you will support the CFO in any acquisitions, integrations and on the exit strategy in due course. You will be the “Go To” person for internal and external audit matters and be the main point of contact with the Group’s auditors and advisorsKey Responsibilities Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement across the business and within financeFull responsibility for the co-ordination and supervision of management and statutory reporting processesAdding value through the provision of quality financial and non-financial information and insightSupporting the Finance Director in driving financial performance and managing riskDrive financial internal control improvements in the GroupEngage in the M&A process including financial due diligence as requiredProvide functional support for M&A activities and integration of acquisitions from a financial reporting and control perspective, including leading fair value assessmentChampioning and enhancing the Group reporting systemsWorking closely with the CFO and Group Commercial FD on finance projects and performance improvement initiativesCo-ordinate Group external audits and be the main point of contact for the Group’s auditors and advisorsOwnership of the risk register for FinanceBe the joint point of contact for the Insurance Renewal process and ad hoc insurance queries alongside the Legal functionManage Group internal reporting – monthly actuals and forecast, including writing the CFO Board report and Audit Committee reportsMonitor performance against short term and long-term incentive plansProvide technical accounting input to tax and treasury planning strategiesMentor and develop direct reportsYou: You’ll be a qualified accountant with an audit background and significant post qualification experience. You'll have an innovative and agile approach, thriving on delivering solutions and developing your teamSkills and competencies A background which includes experience as a Group Financial Controller or as a Deputy Group Financial Controller in a PLC listed company or large private groupBe highly organised with a strong attention to detail, capable of handling high volumes of variable work, meeting strict reporting deadlines.Have strong leadership skills and be open minded, a flexible attitude with real pace and drive.
