The Supervisor Plant is responsible for managing, planning, and administrating the daily operational/logistics functions of the Plant/Shredding Facilities in the most cost-effective and customer-satisfying manner. This position is a key member of the operations team in managing and optimizing efficient and secure service to our customers. This role will be required to provide out-of-hours on-call duties, on a rota basis as required.
Key Job Activities:
1. Ensures that overtime costs are minimized and that associated labor costs within the plant department are managed appropriately.
2. Assists in developing and implementing short and long-term plans for the plant department, while strategically implementing methods to achieve goals.
3. Oversees the preparation of daily schedules for all the plant partners.
4. Oversees personnel training for all the plant partners, including training on the operation of shredding equipment, baling, forklifts, and other types of equipment.
5. Oversees all security matters for the plant department and works with all partners to ensure security standards and expectations are implemented accordingly.
6. Maintains, monitors, and repairs all machines to ensure they are working properly.
7. Ensures the plant meets British Security Industry Association standards and follows Shred-it policies at all times.
8. Controls the flow of activity in the plant so team members/trucks can be provided service upon arrival.
9. Manages customer service in the plant, demanding top-notch customer service at all times.
10. Takes ownership of all compliance and safety training for the plant departments and partners.
11. Recruits, trains, and develops talent.
12. Ensures there is a pipeline of qualified candidates available for future staffing needs.
Minimum Requirements:
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Previous management experience, including employee relations, performance management, hiring, training, and coaching. Previous relevant industry experience. Strong knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Mental health first aid trained.
