About the Role: Open Targets has a 12 month maternity cover position available to support data sharing within the consortium. This is a really important part of the value that Open Targets has to its industry partners and this secondment opportunity would be a great chance for you to expand your knowledge around different data types, use and build data managements skills and work with people at Sanger, at Open Targets and also at Open Targets industry partners to broaden your network. This is a flexible secondment opportunity, working 2 days per week within the Operations Team in Open Targets which is made up of EMBL-EBI & Sanger team members. You will be responsible for: Working with Open Target project teams (Sanger, EMBL and third parties) to track data production and facilitate pre-publication data releases to Open Targets consortium partners. This includes managing versioning, formatting, and meta-data of releases as appropriate as well as tracking & recording final public release to the scientific community. You will also oversee the organisation of project data within the Sanger data farm (the OTAR file space) working with Sanger IT, including the usage of a common directory for Open Targets project data and providing advice on long-term data storage or submission to project teams. You will maintain the infrastructure & ways of working for data management. You will be the point of contact for any data related queries from partners and/or public users of the data. About You: You will be a highly organised individual with a background in bioinformatics and managing data infrastructure for research projects. You are self-motivated, able to manage your workload efficiently and thrive in a collaborative environment. About Us: Open Targets (OT) aims to systematically identify and prioritise drug targets by combining genetic, clinical and functional genomics data. It is a shared initiative between the Wellcome Sanger Institute, a world-leading genomics institution, European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), a global leader in the management, integration and analysis of public domain life science data, and world-leading pharmaceutical companies GSK, Sanofi, MSD, Pfizer and Genentech. Essential Skills: BSc in Biological Sciences, data science or a related discipline. Bioinformatics and data organisation skills A proactive, organised approach Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience managing data infrastructure for research project(s) Familiarity with the compute farm at Sanger (or equivalent high performance computing environment), including: -Experience of shell scripting and comfortable in a UNI- -Other Programming language skills (preferably Python) and data analysis experience Application Process: Please include a cover letter along with your CV.
