This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Transport Team as a Vehicle and Plant Technician, playing a key role by ensuring that teams across the Council can use their machinery through efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of plant, vehicles and tools.
As part of our Transport Team, you will be responsible for identifying and repairing any faults or damage to machinery, vehicles and tools, accurately updating service records. Main duties will include:
1. Help with general service, weekly checks and fault diagnostics for our vehicle fleet and machinery range.
2. Undertake inspections of vehicles in preparation for MOT.
3. Maintain comprehensive records, both electronically and in hard copy, for each vehicle/machinery item to demonstrate the performance of routine servicing, statutory inspection and breakdown repairs.
4. Undertake the correct and regular maintenance and calibration of all equipment in accordance with brand instructions and guidelines.
5. Liaise with customers as and when required.
6. Comply with all company policies, rules, and statutory regulations.
7. Ensure that all equipment is stored safely in a clean and tidy manner at the end of each day.
8. Adhere to Health and Safety regulations at all times to ensure safe working and the welfare of your team and our customers.
The ideal candidate will be qualified to Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with proven experience working as a mechanic/fitter. You will have a strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure. In addition, there is an opportunity to undertake Class 2 driving if not already held.
