Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £51,200 to £70,000 and London £56,400 to £80,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Retail Banking division works alongside an extensive network of stakeholders to help drive our FCA objectives and priorities with a wide variety of banks and building societies. The Fixed Firm Supervision team is responsible for supervising one of the largest groups in that sector.
We are hiring a Senior Firm Supervisor (Senior Associate).
What will you be doing?
You'll play a crucial role in supervising a major banking group undergoing significant transformation. As a senior supervisor you will work independently and with others to deliver the following core responsibilities:
* Engage with the senior management of firms and influencing them to deliver better customer outcomes, including discussions regarding the culture, business model, governance and systems and controls within their firms
* Analyse firms’ business models and strategies and identifying the key risks of harm, dealing with complex problems, and finding solutions
* Contribute to the development, implementation, and oversight of effective, assertive supervisory strategies to address key risks of harm and recommend supervisory interventions where appropriate
* Use data to identify trends, outliers and provide insights to support the Divisions work and working on event-driven (reactive) work in response to firm issues and industry developments
* Form sound judgement on a variety of regulatory topics and communicating this clearly and succinctly to internal and external stakeholders
* Work collaboratively and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the Directorate, the wider FCA and key external stakeholders such as the Prudential Regulation Authority
* Be part of a fast-paced team that pioneers the use of technology to drive continuous improvement of our processes and operations
* Contribute to the wider Department and Division, including supporting colleagues and identification of sector-wide risks and issues

Which skills are required?

Minimum
* Experience regulating or working with regulated financial services firms
* Strong written communication skills and experience in building and maintaining relationships with senior management and stakeholders internally and externally
* Experience in planning and delivering work or projects at pace
Essential
* Experience working in an analytical role to reach sound judgements quickly and clearly from a broad and varied range of information
* The ability to act on your own initiative to make informed and timely decisions, cutting through complexity, identifying the key issues, and escalating issues appropriately
* Ability to present yourself and the FCA in a professional and credible manner, with strong oral and presentation skills
* Experience of successful teamwork including working with others to plan and deliver outcomes and providing support to colleagues
* Proven ability to balance and manage competing priorities, with factors often outside of your control
* Willingness to learn and develop yourself and others, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to your work
* Knowledge of key products or services in the banking sector or experience in one or more of the following areas: consumer duty, financial crime, fraud, operational resilience, governance, and controls
