Job Purpose
As a major player in the renewable energy market, RES continues to grow in reputation, scale and capability. As part of the UK&I solar O&M team, the RES Solar Farm Site Maintenance Manager is responsible for the care and custody of over 2,000 acres of land and the cleaning of over 2 million solar panels. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented candidate who can bring our key values of Passion, Accountability, Collaboration, and Excellence to the role. The role is based at the RES office on the outskirts of Exeter and reports to the Head of UK&I Solar and Storage O&M, working alongside an experienced solar farm landscape and environmental management co-ordinator. Equipment, training, and the support of the whole RES Group will be provided.
Key Accountabilities
The overall purpose of the role is to manage the successful delivery and continuous improvement of the following services to the solar farm asset owners, as part of the overall RES operation & maintenance contracts:
1. Grass cutting and weed control
2. Grazing management
3. Hedge cutting
4. Ditch clearance and drainage system maintenance
5. Fence and gate maintenance and repair
6. Rodent control
7. Minor track repairs
8. Minor building repairs
The responsibilities and duties of the role are diverse:
1. Requirements capture through review of O&M contracts, site lease, Landscape and Environmental Management Plans, client consultation
2. Screening, prequalification, and selection of candidate sub-contractors
3. Scoping and developing draft sub-contracts
4. Developing and delivering tender processes, reviewing quotations, and negotiating agreements
5. Developing and tracking budgets
6. Landowner liaison
7. Gaining timely client approval and managing contract administration
8. Raising Purchase Orders to call off instructions from the sub-contracts
9. Reviewing Risk Assessment and Method Statements
10. Reviewing and logging safety and competency documentation
11. Scheduling jobs with sub-contractors and RES team members
12. Co-ordinating set up and issue of permits, and controlling site access procedures
13. Organising online and in-person safety inductions and safety monitoring tours
14. Accurately reporting plans, input and outputs of tasks to RES O&M managers
15. Inspecting work for adherence to specification and quality standards and raising non-conformances
16. Closing out work orders ready for invoice
17. Raising incidents and managing the delivery of HSQE actions
18. Continuous improvement informed by awareness of market trends and innovations
