Job summary We require a Specialist Occupational Therapist to provide clinical specialist skills in Occupational Therapy interventions within an Acute OT setting. The post holder will manage a clinical caseload as specialist clinician to support Occupational Therapy service delivery including Trauma, General Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, planned and unplanned care as well as A & E and Front Door. This post is vital to facilitate as far as possible each clients return to maximum function and independence through a range of therapeutic interventions. This intervention has a significant impact on the wider economy in reducing length of stay in hospital, reducing admissions and re admissions, reducing residential placements through both social care and continuing health care, reducing domiciliary care packages as well as improving health outcomes. We aim to enhance health and wellbeing by facilitating participation in meaningful activity within community and inpatient settings Main duties of the job To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To provide and develop an Occupational Therapy service to this specific area and contribute to related policies. To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal within a designated area as delegated by team lead. To contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy Service by completing clinical audits, service improvements and undertake research. Will demonstrate high level of knowledge, skill and expertise relating to functional ability, psychological and emotional impact medical conditions for patients carers, families and professionals. Cascading this knowledge appropriately through education and training with the Occupational Therapy service. The service is provided in a variety of inpatient settings, and you will be required to work across different specialist areas such as A&E and Ambulatory care, surgical, medical and orthopaedics. To work flexibly to support the service across 7 days a week. To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placement.
