Overview: This is a fantastic route for an aspiring Psychologist, Therapist, or someone looking to work in the Criminal Justice system. A small specialist school for children aged 5 to 11 in Oxford is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support the social skills, emotional wellbeing, and mental health of the students within their school.
The school provides an alternative education for children who have social & emotional difficulties such as anxiety and school refusal due to developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences, as well as specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. The Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will be working closely with trained professionals including Psychologists and Therapists and will have the opportunity to shadow their work.

Responsibilities:
- Support children who often feel confused, with low self-esteem and disengaged from schooling.
- Provide tailored education to meet individual needs, enabling and empowering students to understand that 'great minds think differently', gain confidence, and progress their learning.
- Prioritize children's social, emotional, and mental health development.
Qualifications:
- Ideally have a degree in a related field or experience working with young people.
- Resilience and an open mind to support children who have experienced trauma and mental health challenges.
