Our client, a leading global contractor in the construction/power generation industry, is now seeking the services of an Industrial Relations Manager to support work on a major construction project in the South West. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the most prestigious construction projects in the world.
Job Description:
1. Proactively manage Industrial Relations for site & field-based employees.
2. Develop the Industrial Relations Strategy for the UK site & field-based client group.
3. Support the staffing plan and headcount ramp-up of the client group, working effectively with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and other stakeholders to attract and retain suitable employees.
4. Ensure appropriate induction and onboarding processes are in place to allow effective integration for new team members.
5. Provide expert intervention for preventing and resolving IR matters.
6. Manage the delegation and mobilisation of UK-based and inpatriate employees.
7. Coach People Leaders on the handling of industrial disputes and grievances, ensuring full compliance with respective legislation.
8. Participate in the selection and mobilisation of Contractor companies, ensuring full compliance with established project procedures.
9. Maintain an effective working relationship with respective parties relative to industrial relations.
10. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of legislation and national agreements and undertake appropriate training and development as requested, and be able to train others as appropriate.
11. Ability to effectively challenge business leaders to prevent deviation from expected standards.
12. Maintain a register of subcontractors and relevant site agreements.
13. Liaise with union representatives, industry groups, and customer IR representatives.
14. Coordinate the implementation and ensure full compliance with the Employee Relations strategy.
15. Advise supervisory staff and employees on the implementation of strategies to identify and control potential disputes.
16. Act as an integral member of the site management team.
What you will need:
1. Industrial Relations experience ideally across major construction projects.
2. Knowledge of relevant employment legislation and national agreements.
