This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with challenging behaviour, helping them to improve both their academic engagement and personal development. Job Summary As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who display challenging behaviours, providing guidance and implementing strategies to support their emotional and behavioural needs. You will be key in promoting a positive learning environment and contributing to the overall well-being and progress of the students. Behaviour Support Assistant Job Responsibilities Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with behavioural challenges, helping them to develop positive coping strategies. Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Work with students to improve their social and emotional skills, fostering positive relationships with peers and staff. Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies, promoting consistent and fair approaches. Support the development and monitoring of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) tailored to students' specific needs. Encourage students to engage in lessons and school activities, helping them overcome barriers to learning. Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster open communication and mutual respect. Essential Requirements For a Successful Behaviour Support Assistant Previous experience working with children or young people in a behaviour support or educational setting. A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students exhibiting challenging behaviours. A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
