The Company
Our client is a Construction Main Contractor within the Commercial Interiors, Refurbishment & Interior Fit Out sectors. They are a respected company building an enviable reputation within the construction industry. Having sustained growth over a number of years, they are now in a position to potentially increase their turnover consistently over the next 5 years. To support this growth, they are looking to add an experienced Quantity Surveyor. Previous experience in estimating and procurement would be beneficial for this role (site or office). The individual will be responsible for commercially managing a number of projects from inception, including tendering and then, upon successful award, carrying out quantity surveying to practical completion, thus ensuring continuity on each contract. This role could also suit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for the next step in their career.
Previous experience in the Interior Fit Out, Refurbishment, and Commercial Interiors sectors would be beneficial. Experience in managing multiple schemes of various values is also advantageous.
The Quantity Surveyor Role
As a Quantity Surveyor with experience in estimating and procurement and a minimum of 3 years' experience, you will be responsible for liaising with clients, managing financial issues, preparing estimates, preparing and agreeing valuations, and finalising sub-contract accounts.
The position incorporates the following responsibilities:
1. Preparation and submission of estimates (when required)
2. Procurement of subcontractors & placing orders
3. Handling contract administration including advising on the commercial contractual position under the subcontracts
4. Tendering and full costing of contracts
5. Measurement of main/sub contract works / take-offs
6. Identification, valuation and agreement of variations
7. Preparation of Final Accounts with full supporting pack
8. Provide accurate commercial forecasts of activity and net margin on a monthly reporting cycle (liaise with finance)
Ideally, you will have a degree in surveying OR a construction-related discipline with at least 6 years of experience within a similar position and industry.
