Job Title: Electrical Technician at Hope Works Cement Plant
The role is within the electrical team at Hope Works, a key part of the maintenance department. The primary responsibility is to ensure the electrical network is safely maintained and developed to support plant operations.
The position is based at our Hope Works Cement plant in the Peak District, the UK's largest cement manufacturer, producing approximately 1.5 million tonnes annually. Established in 1929, our plant contributes significantly to the local economy, employing over 200 skilled professionals and utilizing local materials to promote sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed electrical installation condition reports using industry-standard testing equipment and software.
* Conduct visual and thermographic surveys of electrical equipment.
* Maintain accurate electrical documentation with computerized maintenance management systems.
* Coordinate with maintenance teams for electrical repairs and upgrades, minimizing production disruption.
* Identify remedial work requirements for electrical equipment and infrastructure.
* Contribute to improving electrical safety practices within the plant.
* Perform installation and remedial works on low voltage electrical systems and equipment.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
* ONC, HNC, Level 3 City & Guilds, or recognized apprenticeship in electrical installation or engineering.
* City & Guilds 236 Pt 1 & 2, 2230 Level 3 NVQ 2356/2357, or City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 in Electrical Installation including AM1 and AM2.
* 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018).
* City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent).
* Extensive experience in conducting Electrical Installation Condition reports.
* Proven experience with electrical testing procedures such as insulation resistance, earth fault loop impedance, RCD, single and three-phase testing, and motor control centre testing.
* Experience with emergency lighting and fire alarm testing.
* Understanding of earthing systems and electrical distribution arrangements.
* Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
