This is a great opportunity for to work at one of English Heritage's flagship sites, Tintagel Castle, welcoming around 300,000 visitors per year. Tintagel Castle offers a magical and unforgettable experience to its visitors. The rocky headland of Tintagel is the setting for over 1500 years of history and archaeology, where the stories of human occupation are intertwined with world-famous legends and myth. The site includes the clifftop remains of a medieval castle, breath-taking sea views as well as the famous statue of Gallos and newly built bridge. You will also find a secluded beach perfect for exploring, as well as a shop and cafe where a wide range of treats can be purchased. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a busy, historic tourist attraction, where one moment you will be selling tickets to happy holiday-makers and the next, providing tastings of our fabulous wine.
By joining us as a Tintagel Castle Visitor Assistant, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. Through your recommendations, you will help personalise their visit - this could include talking about the benefits of English Heritage membership or recommending things to see and do on site. You will also contribute to making sure your site is accessible, safe and well presented at all times. We are also especially keen to hear from individuals who would be interested in driving our onsite vehicles as part of our Visitor Shuttle Service within their role.
It is a varied role - some days will be busy from start to finish and others quieter, especially on the wetter days! Some paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial but full training and support is provided as part of your induction. Hours will vary but you will be contracted to work fixed hours between April - October, moving to a zero hours contract through the winter months. WEEKENDS / BANK HOLIDAYS - You will be required to work weekends and/or Bank Holidays, more information will be provided at interview.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm to deliver great visitor experiences and be confident engaging in a positive way with people from all backgrounds. You will show a willingness to follow site procedures and priorities, supporting good presentation standards across all areas of the site as well as be capable of understanding financial targets and carrying out basic money-handling and cashiering duties.
