Summary of Role:
Capula has been growing year on year and we are looking to add a new role to the growing finance team. With a growing portfolio of projects across our 4 business units (BU), we are now looking for a Finance Business Partner who will provide financial information, analysis, and support to drive business strategy. A trusted finance professional that will add real value in decision making working with the Directors, BU leads, projects managers and commercial team, with a drive to optimise financial performance and develop reporting and analytics.
Business and Project Support
Provide financial advice and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies
Develop and implement financial models to support strategic initiatives and to aid the decision making of each BU
Review, manage and monitor overall staff utilisation compared to agreed targets
Review current processes and make recommendations to drive and improve efficiencies whilst ensuring quality and accuracy
Regular monitoring of project retention balances
General Power BI assistance for various reports / scenarios / dashboards
Assist with statutory and client audits
Ad hoc support for Finance and Commercial
Month End Project Reporting
Provide governance, working closely with the BU leads, project managers and commercial team to ensure accurate month end project reporting, including correct cut off for revenue recognition and costs
Monitor financial performance by tracking actuals against annual budget/forecast
Variance analysis against annual budget and rolling forecasts
Monitor and review aged WIP balances
Prepare detailed Business Commentary for dashboard reporting
Monthly Project RAG status report preparation for Head of Commercial
Final review with BU’s to evaluate and finalise the monthly submitted project forecasts (CVR’s) prepared by the QS and project teams
Budgeting and forecasting
Collaborate with BU management to prepare each BU annual budget and group forecast ready to submit to FC for consolidation
Support the BU leads in presenting to MD and FD the proposed BU Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts
Detailed forecast data and trend analysis to support Directors and BU leads in decision making
Review forecast correlations from a top down and bottom up approach
Labour forecasts vs headcount as part of assisting the BU with resource management
Questioning forecasts / substantiation to amendments
Detailed review of overall project margins and contingency management
Detailed review of phased order backlog
Ideally what we are looking for:
# Works with stakeholders to confidently manage and prioritise deadlines effectively and can cope well with the demands from the business
# Self-motivated and proactive with a proven ability to achieve results and objectives
# Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting
# Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and make recommendations
# Previous experience in similar role would be advantageous
# Experience in using Excel and accounting software
# Experience of Power BI or a desire to train in this area
# Excellent communication skills to present financial information

# Extensive experience working in an FBP role in a contracting business
# Experience of operating across a portfolio of projects, varying contract terms and range of clients
