Position Summary Magellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist Full Time Permanent Contract 34.5 hours per week – 7am-7pm 4 week rotation Sun-Mon-Tues/Wed-Thu-Fri Job location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union. This role is governed by ITAR, restrictions may apply Machining of aircraft components from generated engineering models to prescribed customer specification, using aluminum or titanium metal as required, utilising 3, 4 and 5 axis machine tools. Setting and operating the machine tools To be able to operate multiple machines at all times during shift when safe to do so To communicate efficiently and effectively with the supervisor, manager and colleagues To carry out component change overs for own machines and colleagues if required Carry out de-burring of components, including removal of sharp edges and cleaning of holes Route work as necessary to next operation as per work instructions or team leader direction Ability to resolve machining problems with minimum supervision Escalation of unresolved problems to Shift Leader, Team Leader or Manager as required Provide accurate handover information to next shift on current status and any issues arisen Ensure all job card documentation is filled in correctly before moving onto next operation To work in line with all company requirements including following work-to list and set up sheets Housekeeping and maintenance of own working environment including keeping area free of spills Work in a safe manner complying with all risk assessments and procedures in line with company Health and Safety policy, reporting any Health and Safety incidents that occur Actively support and contribute to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing Any other reasonable duties required by management in support of the business Skills/Knowledge Requirements: Academic: Essential Good general education Time served recognised engineering Apprenticeship, minimum of City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical Engineering Desirable HNC Qualification is desirable Experience: Essential Minimum of 2-3 years of 3,4 and 5 Axis machining Knowledge of Controls Health and Safety Desirable Aerospace manufacturing experience Key Competencies: Motivation Attention to detail Housekeeping skills Other Skills/Abilities/Personal Attributes: Skills: FANUC & Siemens Knowledge Heidenhain knowledge Self-inspection knowledge Abilities: Problem solving Written and verbal handover communication Personal Attributes: Clear communicator Organised and methodical Demonstrates values consistent with the corporate culture, management and operating style expected of Magellan employees Team player Committed to best practice About us: Magellan Aerospace is a global, integrated aerospace company that provides complex assemblies and systems solutions to aircraft and engine manufacturers, defence and space agencies worldwide.
