PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
1. Our growing Infrastructure and Energy (IE) team is looking for an experienced Lawyer (4-8years PQE) to join our team in Leeds to advise public and private sector clients on a variety of energy and transport projects.
2. In this role, you will manage commercial contracts relating to energy infrastructure and transport and advise on the full spectrum of issues relating to energy and transport sector mandates, acting for a broad range of companies, developers, PE funds and Financial Institutions.

5. We act for a range of developers, sponsors, and procuring authorities, and we have advised funders, as well as public and private sector clients, on some of the most challenging assignments in the market in recent years.
6. In the energy space, our work includes several pathfinder projects such as Gas to the West, a pipeline bringing gas from Northern Ireland to the Irish Republic, VW's alliance with Ford Motor Company (one of the largest global industrial alliances), and Nissan's microgrid project as well as work across renewables (wind, solar, bio- energy waste), hydrogen, CCUS, gas to grid, district hearing, CHP, electric vehicles, battery projects and energy and utilities regulation.
7. AG's transport team is recognised as one of the most experienced in the sector with technical expertise across a range of national and international projects including advising Government on all passenger services contracts and HS2 and the owners of the Azuma fleet of trains. We specifically focus on rail, urban transit, ports, freight and logistics and transport hubs.

9. Agility Trains on all aspects of the £6bn PPP arrangements for operation and maintenance of the Azuma and equivalent Great Western Fleet of trains
10. Bluefield Solar on a number of acquisitions of solar projects
11. National Grid on various matters including interconnectors, gas to grid projects and data centres
12. Red Rock Power on its acquisition of the 50MW Afton wind farm
13. The Department for Transport on the high-profile West Coast Partnership franchise competition and Covid-19 emergency measures arrangements and replacement rail passenger franchise contracts linked to major reform of the industry
14. Arrival – one of the most high-profile new entrants to the electric vehicle market on supply of robotics and the construction of their micro-factory in South Carolina
15. Over 200 renewable energy projects in the last decade (wind, solar, biomass, Anaerobic digestion) for clients such as SSE, Peel, John Laing, Network Rail
16. bp on energy and electric vehicle mandates in the UK and overseas renewables and hydrogen projects
17. Several water companies on renewables and major infrastructure projects including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities and Southern Water on their multi-billion Havant Thicket project
18. Corporate PPAs for Network Rail, Britvic, Macquarie and several others
19. Several solar, battery and wind acquisitions and disposals for clients including Portuguese renewables fund, Greenvolt Power, Equans, and Octopus Energy
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:
20. With support from the team, you will have responsibility for drafting and negotiating commercial documents, managing transaction processes, and supervising the contribution of less experienced colleagues.
21. Strongly encouraged to take responsibility for business development both by engaging directly with client contacts at networking events and by providing training.
22. Taking an active role in leading and developing junior talent within the team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE :
23. You will be 4 - 8years PQE, with experience in the Infrastructure, Energy and Transport sectors.
24. We are also interested to hear from more experienced candidates, particularly with a corporate background.
25. The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines across the firm as needed.
26. The drive to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally).
27. Preferably have strong experience in advising energy side clients on a national level.
28. You enjoy being client-facing and have enthusiasm for intellectually challenging work, are ambitious and confident to deliver at the highest standard.
