Job purpose
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of Mechanical installation projects in the capacity of a Sub Contractor a as a General Contractor. The Project Manager is also responsible for the overall project management function, providing leadership, coordination, and management of various projects.
Job Duties:
* Accountable for the financial results of each assigned project.
* Approve & Manage Project Scope of Work, Schedule, and Budget.
* Manage the resources (material, labor, tools, equipment) required for each project.
* Develop a schedule in conjunction with the project foremen for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
* Monitor the progress and make adjustments to ensure the successful completion (time & budget) of the project.
* Review sub-contractor and supplier quotations to ensure only fair and reasonable pricing are approved.
* Monitor and approve project plans, budgeted expenditures, and work hours.
* Manage & issue Contracts, Letters of Intent, Purchase Orders, Change Orders & Warranty letters as required.
* Ensure project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
* Identify and mitigate Project Risk.
* Manage & follow up on Change Orders and Request for Information (RFI) processes.
* Monitor sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained.
* Manage project staff according to the established policies and practices of Lar-Mex.
* Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
* Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
* Supervise & lead project staff in overseeing the delivery of projects within scope, schedule & budget.
* Meet PMO resource objectives by recruiting, coaching, and retaining good employees.
* Ensure all projects adhere to the company’s Core Values and guidelines.
* Provide monthly Work In Progress (WIP) reports for review.
* Provide both verbal and written communications regarding project status, risks, and issues.
* Assist in responding to Request for Proposal (RFP), RFI’s, Pre-Qualifications & Tenders as required.
* Ensure substantial completion certificates and all required projects close out documents are obtained, approved, and incorporated in the O&M manual.
* Develop forms and records to document project activities.
Knowledge and Abilities:
* Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in both French and English.
* Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through on a given task with minimal direction.
* Strong organization and time management skills.
* Must have strong problem-solving skills.
Required Skills:
* 2-5 years of experience managing construction projects is required.
* Must have a valid driver’s license.
Education:
* A degree in technology of building mechanics, mechanical engineering, electronic or computerized systems is considered an asset.
* PMP Certification is considered an asset.
