PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DUTIES OF THE ROLE. Communicate with all members of the Diabetes Team and with others within the organisation. Participate in and provide administrative support for the MDT meetings. Answer queries from patients and their families, redirecting enquiries to the appropriate person within the Diabetes Team. Support the team with the design, production and distribution of patient information newsletters and advertising of events, ensuring that these are regularly updated. Greeting and receiving patients, carers and other visitors in a courteous manner, always keeping them informed and provided with help appropriate to their needs. Preparing admission and information packs, as and when, appropriate and ensuring the wards have the information they require for newly diagnosed children/young people with diabetes. Providing and receiving messages accurately and in a way that this understood by the recipient, referring issues to the appropriate person where necessary. This could be face to face, in writing or verbally and involve use of faxes, photocopiers and computer systems. Deal with telephone enquiries and electronic mail, support the team with all communication on a daily basis. Reporting information received from the children/young people, their parents/carers and others which seems appropriate: Information appropriate to the childs comfort and emotional well being. The childs/parents/carers response to care that is given. Any accidents or incidents that may have occurred. Providing information to the children/young people and their parents/carers regarding non-clinical matters as requested by them or more senior team members. Document patient information as appropriate, entering and retrieving information via the computerised hospital information, as permitted by the role. Ensuring that the team are up to date with relevant information regarding their patients to ensure compliance with Best Practice Tariff. Ensure specialist indicators are placed on patient Bulletin Boards as appropriate. Updating and tidying notice boards and patient information/leaflet racks as necessary. Attending Children's Diabetes Team meetings, and contributing to discussions about improvement to the Service.
