Contract Type: Permanent/12 month fixed term contract
Salary: £25-35K per annum
Working Hours: Full time Mon - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm / Friday 8am - 1.30pm
Holiday: 33 days holiday a year - (25 plus 8 bank holidays)
Flexible Working: By Agreement - core hours Mon-Thurs 9.30 - 3.30, Friday 9.00-12.00
Safety, Health & Environment Advisor
H&S Department Location: Lancaster area
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the EH&S Manager, this role will provide support and advice to the operational teams, supervisors, and managers on relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems that ensure the company's responsibilities are legally compliant, clear, concise, and fully maintained.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Ensuring that there is timely and consistent advice, support, coaching, and governance of Safety & Health standards and legislation to support all activities across the operational departments.
2. Support processes relating to Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste streams.
3. Promote employee awareness and engagement in the importance of following HSE protocols further promoting our commitment to a culture of safety excellence.
4. Advise Angus Fire operational team leaders, supervisors & managers on all aspects of HSE.
5. Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, to promote effective HSE working practices.
6. Conduct/organise relevant HSE training for staff as required, including risk assessment and environmental awareness.
7. Support the on-site risk assessors to ensure risk assessments are completed and reviewed in line with legislative requirements and ensure records are maintained.
8. Conduct & carry out internal and compliance audits on-site; report on findings and manage issue log through to completion.
9. Co-ordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representatives for Bentham site.
10. Recommend & implement control measures and PPE issued to employees.
11. Carry out and support near miss, incidents, and accident investigations and to record and communicate the findings.
12. Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports and documents as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
1. NEBOSH Qualification
2. Practical experience in a manufacturing environment
3. Good knowledge of HSE legislation
4. Ability to produce written reports in a clear and concise manner
5. Experience implementing and revising HSE policies and procedures
6. Proven experience in the delivery of advice and guidance to managers/supervisors
7. Proven background of driving a safety culture
8. Proven experience of using IT such as MS Office packages
Desirable
1. Formally trained to ISO auditing
