Mason Unit offers a place of safety to adults and children brought in by police on S135 or S136 of the Mental Health Act. Mason is a 24 hour, fast paced and dynamic service catering to the specific needs of a wide variety of presentations and personalities whilst in crisis.
Communication plays a vital part within this role and you will develop close links with multiagency services throughout BNSSG such as AMHP teams, safeguarding, on-call consultants and police.
As a Band 6 Nurse you will be expected to be qualified for over a year co-ordinate shifts, risk assess, show clinical leadership, and implement Quality Improvement projects, as well as acting up into the band 7 role in the absence of a band 7. Skilled management and clinical work within Mason can be rewarding. You will receive regular supervision within the team.

Mason unit is due to move site to Callington Road Hospital and post holders will have the chance to develop skills in managing and supporting a ward move.
Main duties of the job
To provide clear clinical leadership to Staff Nurses and Mental Health support workers working on the ward.
Ensure the continuity of care for service users and full implementation of Trust policies.
To supervise Band 5 staff and below in developing, implementing and assessing individual programmes of care.
An integral part of the role is to undertake appraisals, clinical supervision and teaching.
Responsible for specific “management duties” within the ward, which are commensurate with their grade, you will be expected to provide general management in the absence of the Ward Manager.
