We are looking to recruit a Speech and Language Therapist with advanced knowledge of the highly complex dysphagia and communication difficulties associated with a major trauma (MT). The post holder will cover the full MT patient pathway from the initial acute setting, through to specialist inpatient rehabilitation units and into the community as clinically indicated and will work as part of the MT MDT. Education and training staff and students, including SLT, other AHPs, nursing and medical students is integral to the role. Ideally you will have extensive experience of adult acquired disorders in both acute and community rehab settings.
NHS Tayside is host to one of the four Major Trauma Centres in Scotland, based in Ninewells Hospital. The post holder will work as part of the Major Trauma Team to deliver highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) to patients in the major trauma unit as well as across in and out patient settings across Tayside. The postholder will provide support and supervision to the other part time MT post to provide outreach across Tayside for major trauma patients once they leave the acute setting. In this role you will also work as part of the wider SLT team in Ninewells Hospital.
You will work closely with the other senior SLT staff from across Tayside with regard to audit, service development, innovation and strategy. The Adult Acquired SLT Service is a Tayside wide service and has regular local and regional meetings. Professional development is supported and encouraged and we provide separate line management and clinical supervision to ensure strong clinical performance.
You must be HCPC registered.
Hours of work are: 37 hours per week.
