Exciting Opportunity to Lead Merchandising in a Fashion Retailer based in West Yorkshire!
Are you ready to take the reins of a fast-paced, dynamic merchandising department in the fashion retail industry? We’re looking for someone to lead a dynamic merchandising function, lead the planning, stock management, and markdown optimization efforts to ensure targets are hit and the business keeps growing. This is an exciting opportunity to work with internal IT teams to develop and enhance systems, ensuring streamlined workflows, accurate data, and continuous improvements to the merchandising process.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Drive the Department’s Success: Manage and take full responsibility for the departmental budget, ensuring sales, margin, and profit targets are met.
* Develop Winning Strategies: Lead the development of effective merchandising plans, including product range selection, pricing, and promotional strategies to achieve commercial success.
* Manage Wholesale & Third-Party Relationships: Oversee and monitor KPIs across Wholesale and 3rd Party partners, ensuring seamless performance.
* Build Strong Relationships: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive success in all aspects of merchandising.
* Streamline Supplier Operations: Work closely with suppliers to optimize lead times, improve product availability, and drive margin growth.
* Lead, Motivate & Mentor: Develop and inspire your merchandising team, ensuring they reach their potential while driving success.
* Deliver Key Insights: Represent the merchandising function in weekly trading meetings and present company performance updates to senior leadership.
* Drive Business Growth: Contribute ideas and strategies for expanding the business, including new business opportunities and market growth.
* Be the Brand Ambassador: Represent the company’s values and vision, both internally and externally.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience: A minimum of 5 years in retail merchandising, with experience in fashion being desirable.
* Commercial Insight: Strong knowledge of product lifecycles, trend forecasting, inventory planning, and pricing strategies to drive profitability.
* Supplier & Relationship Management: Proven experience in managing supplier relationships, negotiating terms, and optimizing stock levels.
* Analytical Skills: Proficient in Excel (advanced preferred) and business intelligence tools for effective data analysis and decision-making.
* Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience leading, motivating, and developing a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
* Excellent Communication: Strong communication and negotiation skills to build effective relationships with suppliers, buyers, and internal teams.
* Passion for Fashion: A deep passion for fashion and a commitment to delivering the best customer experience.
