“Happy to talk flexible working”
We manage a diverse range of applications and systems within our team: we ensure the continued operation of Council business, providing critical support for the organisation’s infrastructure, and managing the security and efficiency of our digital environments.
There will never be a dull moment working with us, as flexibility and teamwork are key to our successful way of working.
We are a small, energetic and dynamic team, central to the organisation's operations, and we take pride in supporting our colleagues, securing our network, and safeguarding our digital assets.
About the role and team
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly technical ICT Service Delivery Team Leader to run our high-performing and busy ICT Service Desk team and manage the infrastructure.
While the primary focus will be on managing and optimizing the ICT Service Desk operations, you will also be the lead for installing and managing all the various ICT infrastructure of our organisation. This will include advising on technical issues to ensure we meet our operational requirements, attending both virtual and in-person support sessions, and documenting / architecting solutions.
The role will also require you to support our cybersecurity function, ensuring that we are prepared for any potential security threats we may face. Leading the team, you will update our various cybersecurity protocols and run the delivery of training and simulation exercises.
The team works closely with other departments, and at times, you would be required to support the delivery of ICT services for organization-wide projects and support the technology infrastructure processes.
Previous experience in technical support and accurately diagnosing and resolving a variety of ICT issues is a must.
You will also be provided with support from the ICT Manager and the opportunity to attend training sessions both delivered internally and externally as required.
About you
We are looking for a well-organized and dynamic individual to lead our ICT Service Delivery team in a busy and ever-evolving environment.
You will possess sound judgement, attention to detail, and an awareness of the critical nature of network security and performance.
You will be educated to degree standard or equivalent, with a strong background in IT network management.
Great knowledge of Windows servers and desktops (2019, 2022, 10 and 11), network architecture, virtualisation, firewalls and VPNs, cybersecurity principles, and experience in managing varied enterprise-level IT infrastructure would be a great advantage, as would past experience in a public sector (or similar) environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the ability to plan, and strong problem-solving abilities are essential. You should have excellent ICT diagnostic and organizational skills and be able to work quickly and under pressure with minimal supervision.
So, do you enjoy a varied job where no two days are the same?
Are you interested in optimizing network performance and ensuring robust cybersecurity?
Can you think on your feet and work on your own initiative?
If yes, then this role is for you.
For you
Hybrid working with flexibility.
We’re less about you driving to work and more about driving down our carbon footprint (meeting our pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030).
Our hybrid working policy offers many employees the opportunity to work from home up to three days a week should they wish (pro rata for part time working).
In support of our people and our Climate Change Strategy, we welcome hybrid working and are happy to talk flexible working too, where appropriate to the role.
