We are currently recruiting for an Effluent Plant Operator to work in our busy food manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil.
This is a full time, permanent position working 4 on 4 off - days and nights with a salary of £24,000 per annum. After successfully passing a 6 month probationary period this will increase to £25,000 per annum.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the daily running of the wastewater treatment plant ensuring water discharge remains within the business consent levels.
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STUDY TOWARDS NVQ LEVEL 2 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION - WHICH WILL BE FULLY FUNDED
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate, monitor, maintain and trouble-shoot the effluent treatment facility
2. Maintain a working knowledge of operation, methods and procedures of wastewater treatment plan
3. Maintain basic knowledge of wastewater discharge norms and consent limits
4. Maintain basic knowledge of physical, chemical and engineering aspects of treatment processes for wastewater
5. Inspect and perform daily checks on effluent plant performance to ensure effective operations and maintain records, including start-up, shut down and daily monitoring of daily blood skid
6. Complete planned maintenance activities in the water plant during weekend shut down periods
7. Complete daily site meter readings and uploading to shared file
8. Arrange delivery of effluent treatment chemicals and loading of chemicals into treatment plant chemical dosing systems
9. Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with consent limits
10. Establish preventative maintenance schedules
11. Perform regular draining and cleaning of effluent treatment plant
12. Liaise with effluent treatment chemical suppliers and maintain chemical stock on site
13. Liaise with site engineering and hygiene teams as required during breakdowns, maintenance and troubleshooting
14. Liaise with external effluent plant maintenance and cleaning contractors
15. Maintain daily open communications with site management teams
16. Ensure safe storage of effluent chemicals in line with environmental policy
17. Perform all work in conformance to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
18. Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder
