About The Post Barnsley has an ambitious strategy to re-energise our Library Service, creating community and digital hubs at the heart of our communities and developing a vibrant events and activities programme to engage all members of our communities.The Library Service is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation delivering multiple arts and cultural activities across all libraries.We have recently refurbished 9 of our branch libraries and alongside our flagship, town centre LibraryTheLightbox, this is an exciting time to join the Service. We are looking for a positive person to provide clear, visible leadership, instilling a positive management culture across a large, operational, customer facing team, whilst also having the vision and skills to lead on the development and delivery of a diverse range of activities and events.You will work closely with other managers in the Library Service to ensure a one team approach, ensuring that statutory responsibilities and excellent standards are maintained through the development of staff and continuous improvement of the Service. You will also work with other council services and external partners to deliver our Library Strategy for libraries to be community and digital hubs providing access to services as well as a wide range of groups and activities to meet individual community needs. A critical part of the role is to lead on library supplier specifications, stock selection, promotion, editing, stock management and rotation to maximise usage and ensure collections are current, relevant, and meet changing customer demands. You will have experience in performance management, customer feedback, data collection and analysis, and project management of complex improvement programmes.
