As we implement our Digital First Supply Chain Strategy within Operations, we seek an Automation Engineer that will help us implement a material handling solution for our UK Distribution Centre (DC) planned to launch in 2027.
As an Automation Engineer, you will work alongside process and construction teammates to build a brand-new Distribution Centre befitting one of the most iconic and innovative global brands. The ambition is clear: build a ground-breaking omni-channel DC encompassing the best innovation, automation, and iconic design.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Professional qualification in engineering or equivalent experience; familiar with all aspects of automation (mechanical, electrical & controls).
* Broad technical knowledge with experience in various aspects of MHE installation (electrical, mechanical, PLC, pneumatics).
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
* Experience realizing technical projects at scale in a highly automated environment.
* Affinity and curiosity about material handling systems.
* Personal responsibility for the realization of the project.
* Enjoy teamwork, working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
* Problem-solving ability and driven for results.
* Strong formal and informal communication skills.
* Knowledge of UK norms and regulations regarding technical installations.
* A high-performance mentality: bias for action, drive for results while demonstrating a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
* Flexibility in work patterns during project installation.
* CSCS credentials to carry out the role on-site.
* Formal qualification in safety practices.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
As an Automation Engineer, you will be deployed from the start of the project installation through to testing, commissioning, and solution acceptance, ensuring a well-functioning installation is handed over once the DC launches.
As part of the Automation team, you will contribute to the implementation of an optimal and efficient material handling solution, involving a deep understanding and experience with all aspects of material handling equipment/automation (mechanical, electrical, and controls).
* Report to Lead Project Engineer in all aspects of project technical delivery and scope management.
* Ensure project technical and quality installation requirements are met.
* Ensure project adherence to NIKE quality processes and procedures.
* Support the Project Engineer in identifying and managing risks and issues.
* Support the Project Engineer in the day-to-day project delivery.
* Provide Health and Safety leadership by example.
* Work closely with principal contractors and OEM vendors.
