Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to extend their skills and provide continuity of care by working in our specialist Tier 3 Weight Management and Adult Diabetes services. This will also involve some cross cover across our Tier 4 Bariatric Surgery Service.
This is a great time to join our service as you will be working with the team to change the way patients are managed, creating new and improved care pathways across the Weight Management & Bariatric Surgery Services, giving you the chance to develop your wider professional skills.
You'll help provide support to adults living with Diabetes across the Somerset Community by delivering outpatient clinics and structured education sessions.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with patients with severe and complex obesity and diabetes and interested in offering behaviour modification skills/offering psycho-social support. Training and support in specialist skills will be provided once you are in post.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
As a Dietitian, you'll work with the patients from referral to the Weight Management service through to surgery or those receiving medical interventions. As part of the diabetes role, you'll work with patients from diagnosis and through treatment and management of their condition.
You will work within the dedicated and supportive MDT of:
* Consultant Endocrinologists
* Clinical Psychologists
* Specialist Dietitians
* Dietetic Apprentice
* Consultant Surgeons
* Clinical Nurse Specialists (including diabetes nurses)
* Research Team
* Bariatric Coordinator
* Clerical Staff
* GP surgeries
To contribute to the provision of the Dietetic service for the Weight Management and Adult Diabetes Services.
This will involve providing specialist dietetic patient care in MDT clinics, dietetic led clinics and group education and intervention sessions through face-to-face contact with some use of digital platforms and telephone contact, at Musgrove Park Hospital and in the wider Somerset community team. This will include some off site and home working.
You will be supported by the Lead Dietitians and the other dietitians in the Weight Management and Adult Diabetes Services as well as the highly experienced wider MDT.

Essential
HCPC registered dietitian
BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
Teaching qualification or experience of teaching groups
Desirable
DESMOND educator
Motivational interviewing or behaviour change training
Experience

Varied Post registration experience in clinical dietetics (which would ideally equate to approximately 18 months - 2 years)
Experience of working with patients with obesity, diabetes, or other long-term conditions (typically 3 - 6 months)
