Job Description:
As a Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons in mathematics to students of varying abilities. You will promote a positive learning environment where students feel confident to develop their skills, from basic numeracy to more advanced mathematical concepts. You will also assess students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and ensure that all students are supported in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in mathematics across different year groups and ability levels.
2. Support students in developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, fostering a love of learning in the subject.
3. Differentiate lessons and resources to cater to the individual needs of students.
4. Use data and assessments to track student progress and provide targeted interventions where necessary.
5. Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and numeracy skills.
6. Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment that encourages active participation and engagement.
7. Collaborate with colleagues in the maths department to develop schemes of work and best practices.
8. Attend parent evenings, meetings, and school events as required.
Skills and Experience:
1. A strong passion for teaching maths and helping students achieve their potential.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Proven ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
4. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
5. Familiarity with the national curriculum and exam requirements (e.g., GCSE, A-Level).
6. Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
7. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
1. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
2. A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
3. Experience teaching maths at secondary level is desirable but not essential.
4. An understanding of GCSE and A-Level mathematics curricula is beneficial.
