The Housing Asset & Investment Team has responsibility for the asset management of over 12,000 properties. An opportunity has arisen, and we are seeking to recruit a Repairs & Maintenance Co-ordinator, who will assist in the delivery & improvement of the repairs and maintenance service.
You will provide support to the Housing Repairs Manager on the implementation of the Council's repairs and maintenance strategy. You will assist in the effective delivery of the repairs service to Council tenants and owner occupiers through various contractors, including our in-house maintenance provider.
The main duties of the post include:
1. Managing staff who diagnose repair and maintenance issues and instruct repairs in line with the policy.
2. Dealing with customers in their own home and/or by telephone to diagnose and resolve complex repair/maintenance issues.
3. Handling elected members, customer enquiries & complaints in line with Council policy, ensuring target timescales are met.
4. Contributing to both performance monitoring and service development processes to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused repairs and maintenance service.
It is essential you have experience of working in a housing repairs/maintenance/investment role delivering a responsive repairs service and/or capital investment programmes.
You must have experience of dealing with the public in the field and in an interview situation either face to face or in their own home. You will possess effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels.
You will have knowledge of standards of workmanship of all trades involved in the repairs process and knowledge of relevant Housing legislation including the Tenements Scotland Act 2004.
Knowledge of various Health and Safety Regulations, which relate to the construction industry, and analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are desirable.
IT Skills, demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate others, work on your own initiative in a busy team environment, manage your own workload, and the ability to work in a changing environment to tight deadlines and under pressure are also essential.
You must be able to attend meetings or events out of hours, as required.
A full current driving licence is desirable.
