Day-to-day of the role: Linux System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat and Ubuntu servers across physical and virtual environments. Utilize automation for building images and configuring servers, primarily hosted on VMware clusters. System Monitoring and Optimization: Perform system monitoring, optimization, troubleshooting, and ensure system availability and performance. Patch Management: Plan and execute system patching and upgrades using Red Hat Satellite, ensuring timely application of security patches to maintain system integrity and compliance. Agent Deployment and Management: Deploy and manage antivirus agents for endpoint protection, maintain backup agents for data recovery, and distribute Tenable agents for vulnerability assessments. Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts to streamline system administration tasks and implement configuration management practices. Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Provide rapid response to system incidents and outages, including after-hours support as needed, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures. Required Skills & Qualifications: Technical Expertise: Experienced in installing and configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu Linux, with proficiency in Red Hat Satellite for patch management and system provisioning. Scripting Skills: Proficient in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages. System Monitoring: Familiar with system monitoring and performance tuning. Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplined teams and communicate with both technical and business-focused staff. Decision Making and Autonomy: Strong decision-making skills with the autonomy to self-manage and deliver to target dates.
