We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 to join our laboratory team based in Aberdeen on a fixed-term contract. The Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 will work together with the Laboratory Team to carry out preparation and testing on submitted samples. ABOUT YOU We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Laboratory Analyst who has knowledge and experience working within a laboratory testing environment. You will have enthusiasm for science and wish to develop technically within the oil and gas industry. You will play an active part in ensuring the highest quality of service to clients and adherence to standards. Required skills and experience: Degree/Higher National Certificate or at least 3 years experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory Familiar with the regulatory requirements specific to the laboratory and ensures all users are in compliance with those standards Highly proficient in computer programs such as MS Office and data entry/recording Willing to be hands-on working at all levels Ideally have relevant laboratory experience of test methods and their routine application Ability to work on own initiative Manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY You will carry out analytical tasks and equipment calibrations within the service line and act as a signatory for reporting requirements. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will work under the supervision of the Team Leader and perform various tests and tasks in the laboratory. You will also help with the daily operations and maintenance of the laboratory equipment and facilities. Key activities: Assist the Supervisor to prioritise and perform the daily activities of the service line efficiently and effectively in accordance with both approved technical standards and client requirements. Provide training to junior staff in routine and new analytical techniques Prepare reports ensuring these are proofread and signed by an appropriate authorised signatory Act as a representative of the company externally while communicating with clients and professional/technical bodies Perform necessary equipment maintenance to ensure they remain within acceptable operating and (where appropriate) valid calibration standards Report all technical faults and non-conformance issue to providing technical information as required Provide support for new projects, method development and validation work Perform stock-taking and receipting of consumables for the service line Undertake client site work or offshore project work such as field break cover to expand upon knowledge and aid development as required WHAT WE OFFER Join Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
